Our cafes are now fully reopen
On Monday morning, 29th June, the soundtrack in our cafes changed. The clatter of crockery returned, marking the change from the plastic and paper of our take-away service to the delft and cutlery of our usual sit-down service. The chatter of customers also returned – it was wonderful to see our regulars again and to welcome everyone back to Rachel’s Garden Café in Leighlinbridge and Rachel’s Secret Café in Kilquade. It’s a big step towards normal, pre-coronavirus life.
We had had to make the difficult decision following the Taoiseach’s message from Washington to close down our cafes on 13th March and let 96 staff members go. It is really heart-warming to see them back again.
We are following Fáilte Ireland’s guidelines for the reopening of hospitality businesses and, as you would expect, we are asking our customers to take the usual precautionary measures – nothing you can’t handle.
So come in and enjoy seeing all your favourite dishes back again: Rachel’s braised beef stew, chicken curry, sausage rolls, our lovely mouth-watering salads, cakes and desserts made on the premises and of course our famous scones and brown bread. As always, there are gluten-free, sugar-free and dairy-free options.
Did you know we source all our meat and eggs from Irish suppliers and make a big effort to use local ingredients – in fairness, we’re spoiled for choice!
The children’s menu is back too, and (possibly the best news) the playgrounds at both locations are open!
So come in, meet a friend for a chat, have your lunch handed to you – no prep, no washing up. After three and a half months, you deserve it.
