Indoor Plants

Delosperma echinatum is a quirky succulent known for its plump, pickle-shaped leaves covered in tiny soft bristles, giving the plant its distinctive fuzzy appearance. Its branching stems gradually form a dense, slightly trailing plant, making it particularly attractive on shelves or where its stems can spill over the edge of a pot.

Easy to care for when given plenty of light and free-draining soil, it is an excellent little houseplant for succulent lovers and beginners alike.

Characteristics:

• Common Name: Pickle Plant
• Light: Bright light with some direct sunlight; a sunny windowsill is ideal
• Water: Allow the soil to dry well between waterings; water sparingly in winter and never leave the roots sitting in water
• Temperature: Prefers 15-25°C; protect from frost and prolonged cold conditions
• Humidity: Low to average household humidity; does not require additional humidity
• Height & Growth Rate: 20cm in height, moderate rate of growth
• Pot Size: 12cm

Dionaea muscipula, commonly known as the Venus Flytrap, is an amazing houseplant with carnivorous eating habits.

The plant has hinged leaves which are lined with 'teeth' which interlock when shut. The inside of these leaves are hair-like projections called trichomes which cause the lobes to shut close when its prey lands on them.

Characteristics:

• Common Name: Venus Flytrap
• Light: The more direct light the plant receives the healthier the plant will be
• Water: Use distilled water, reverse osmosis water, or rainwater only to water Venus Flytraps
• Temperature: Happy in temperature ranges from 16-35°C, but keep at 5°C in winter
• Humidity: The Venus Flytrap doesn't require extremely high humidity, but try to keep above 50%
• Height & Growth Rate: Typically grows to about 5cm, slow growth rate
• Pot Size: 8.5cm
